This was brilliant, Helen! I would've never connected Napoleon --> civil services--->bureaucratic adoption across industries --->software/tech industry. The randomness of a specialist manager's hyphenation preference affecting our driver's licenses is especially Kafka-esque. I loved the connections you made here!

I was part of an interview recently with Bluesky founder learning about AT protocol and wonder how these ‘new sheriffs in town’ will tie into this all.

Thank you Kelly! Organization and power are really fascinating topics, and how these organizations and power come to be is a great rabbit hole to fall into. And I always find it funny how the modern workplace is an amplification of what we have gone through in the last 300 years, but today's tech elites don't seem to be very aware of it ;)
